Ubisoft Announces 'Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced' For 2026
Ubisoft has confirmed a remastered version of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, titled Black Flag Resynced, set for release in late 2026. The announcement, made during today’s Ubisoft Forward showcase, has sparked excitement among fans of the beloved pirate-themed entry in the franchise.
The remaster will feature 4K resolution, improved lighting, and updated naval combat mechanics. Ubisoft also confirmed full compatibility with modern consoles, including PlayStation 6 and Xbox Series X|S successors. The game’s original soundtrack, composed by Brian Tyler, will be re-recorded with a live orchestra.
The news is trending in the U.S. due to Black Flag’s enduring popularity as one of the most acclaimed Assassin’s Creed titles. Fans have long requested a modernized version, especially as the game’s 2013 release predates current-gen hardware. Social media reactions today have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising Ubisoft for revisiting the fan-favorite adventure.
Ubisoft Montreal, the studio behind the original, is leading development. No exact release date has been set, but pre-orders are expected to open later this year. The company hinted at potential new content but emphasized that the core experience will remain intact.
This remaster follows Ubisoft’s recent strategy of revitalizing older titles, including Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. Analysts suggest the move could boost Ubisoft’s revenue ahead of its next major Assassin’s Creed project, Codename Red, due in 2027.
Black Flag Resynced will be available on PC and consoles, with a possible cloud gaming release. More details are expected at Gamescom 2026.
