McDonald's 'Stranger Things' Happy Meal Sparks Fan Frenzy

McDonald's has launched a limited-edition Stranger Things-themed Happy Meal, sending fans of the hit Netflix series into a frenzy. The collaboration, announced Wednesday, includes collectible toys, Upside Down-inspired packaging, and a retro 1980s aesthetic mirroring the show's setting. Locations nationwide reported long lines and sellouts within hours of the April 25 release.

The promotion marks Netflix's first major fast-food partnership for Stranger Things, which returns for its fifth and final season in late 2026. Each $4.49 Happy Meal contains one of eight figurines featuring characters like Eleven, Dustin, and Demogorgons. McDonald's confirmed some toys will feature augmented reality experiences through a QR code.

Social media erupted with posts showing fans trading duplicates and hunting rare variants. TikTok videos with #StrangerThingsMeal surpassed 2 million views by midday. Collectors note this is McDonald's first horror-adjacent Happy Meal since 1989's McDonaldland Halloween promotion.

The timing capitalizes on renewed interest in the franchise following Netflix's Season 5 teaser trailer last month. Market analysts suggest the campaign could outperform 2022's adult-focused Adult Swim collab, with parents and nostalgic millennials driving demand. McDonald's expects to restock select locations through May 9.
